Missoula Strings on Tour, Inc.

Who We Are

Missoula Strings on Tour, Inc. (MSOT) was started in 1996 by Heather Bristol Flesch. We are a group of young Suzuki violin musicians, from Missoula, Montana USA, that explore the world through music. Our age range starts at 3 years old and continues through 18 years old. We study the Suzuki Violin Method, which allows for not just the child to receive an education, but the entire family as well. Students in Missoula Strings on Tour, Inc. represents nearly every school in the Missoula Area. The emphasis of Missoula Strings on Tour, Inc. is to play and work as a group, not just as individual musicians. The team environment has been a rewarding experience as friendships develop between students and amongst MSOT families.

Each student in MSOT receives a private lesson each week, were the student, parent and teacher work together to accomplish the students musical education. We meet as a group on Monday evenings to review our Suzuki repertoire in small groups, perform as one large group for the community and present solo recitals. On the First Monday of each month we practice on our Electric Violins! Each student can bring his/her electric violin to practice on and amp it up! On the Fourth Monday of each month we have a Reading Monday-we practice reading together (much more fun than by yourself). Missoula Strings on Tour travels to different countries to experience the music, culture and environment of that area. Students are chosen by audition and then study and master selected ensemble repertoire for numerous concerts, CD recording and fundraisers. These tours are a wonderful way for students and their parents to experience the gift of music together, and see how in unites all of us, no matter where we live.
